Ritchie Cemetery Project

The Timeline Notes document was prepared as a research aid in working on our project and is subject to revision, especially in regard to those time periods leading up to and following the City of Topeka’s assumption of jurisdiction over the cemetery.

As of May 2023, no research has been done in two important sets of primary record series from the 1950s and 1960s—1) court records related to litigation about boundary issues, and 2) the City of Topeka archives related to the cemetery, especially contemporaneous records generated by the City Commission, Park Department, City Engineer, and City Attorney.
